Saturn was a small part of General Motors that made small cars and SUVs. Started back in January of 1985. Marketed as a "different kind of car company" and operated somewhat independently from its parent company for a time in its own assembly plant in Spring Hill, Tennessee. Following the withdrawal of a bid by Penske Automotive to acquire Saturn in September 2009, General Motors discontinued the Saturn brand and ended its outstanding franchises on October 31, 2010. All new production was halted on October 7, 2009. Its not that Saturn was a bad brand, its just that it had accomplished its missan and with a shifting market the brand has run its race. It did a great job of bring General Motors to a new kind of buyer. You can still see Saturn's on the road today and people are always looking for them.
